Exceptional Closures
There are times when the weather is so severe, e.g. heavy snowfall, that it is considered that the health and safety of pupils and staff are best served by closing the school. This will only happen if absolutely necessary.
Heavy Snow Overnight
The Head of School will contact the Local Authority and send a message out to parents/carers, via the School App, advising on the decision to close School.
The website will be updated notifying that School will not open.
Where possible the Head of School, Premises Manager or Business Manager will be on site to supervise any staff or pupils that arrive at School. Pupils will be refused entry to School.
A message will be sent to Parents/Carers before 3.00pm the same day to update whether the school intends to re-open the next day or remain closed. The website will also be updated.
Heavy Snow During the Day
If severe weather occurs during the school day, then arrangements will be made for parents to collect children early. Parents/carers will be sent a message via the School App and the website will be updated.
If parents/carers cannot be contacted, children will be kept in school until further arrangements can be made for them.
Every effort will be made to ensure that no child leaves school unless the school is satisfied that proper provision can be made for their care during the day with parents/carers.
